The Beauty of Sadness is a piece based of the sympathetic ringing of a Sostenuto Pedal held minor chord that haunts the major chord being played. The flute, clarinet and cello also mimic this effect of the piano and back it up.
It is a metaphor for an unescapable sadness.

Dalina Diaconeasa is a Romanian multi-instrumentalist and composer of contemporary music. Containing many oriental influences, Dalina's music is mainly instrumental, sometimes with electro-acoustic elements. A lot of her works are for solo piano. She also plays the violin, the recorder and various idiophones (vibes, marimba, glockenspiel, etc.). She started out as a self-taught pianist and later studied music at Falmouth University, UK, where she started conducting and working with ensembles.
