App U-turn: England abandons developing own contract-tracing app for Google-Apple model

But after months of questions over privacy and whether the technology would work the government has abandoned its own contact-tracing app.

Instead, the version developed by Apple and Google is to be used but that too has problems.

So is it a failure of technology, or of government strategy?
