One of the best things you can do is make sure that you have a solid routine that you adhere to. When I work on something I make sure that's the only thing that is on my mind during my pre shot routine. Then I have an external focus on target which shifts my awareness to play golf versus golf swing.
If you change your practice from simply hitting balls into Purposeful Practice you will enhance your chances of meeting your goals and objectives sooner.
