Segregation of Duties

Segregation of Duties Segregation of duties is an internal control whereby no employee is allowed to have two or more of the following duties: (1) custody of assets, (2) authorization of transactions, (3) recording of transactions, and (4) reconciliation of existing assets to recorded amounts. Segregation of duties reduces the number of accounting errors and fraud.
