When asked whether he was concerned with the links between the firms, Mr Andrews said he was advised the same firm delivered Sydney’s Waratah trains.
He said while the “shell” of the trains were built in China, much of the work was done locally.
“So there are many thousands of jobs underpinned here locally by that partnership,” he said.
“It is a very important project and we are pushing ahead with it”.
Asked whether the association between the two firms was cause for a review into a potential security risk, Mr Andrews said he had not been advised to do so.
“I have no advice to that end,” he said.
“No, we won't be reviewing these matters, we are getting open and getting the trains built.”
