According to a new poll out last week, 77% of young voters here in the United States, millennials and younger 77% say that they are planning on showing up and voting in the 20, 20 presidential election. Now month and a half ago, that number was only 70% said they were going to show up. Now it's up to 77%. And here's what that means. We know that the millennials and younger, those voters make up the largest voting block in the country. So if they show up, if 77% of them do show up, they will determine where this election goes. And they have a very clear preference by a double digit margin. They prefer Joe Biden, Joe Biden right now is sitting at 56% support among this age group. So if they show up, if they vote, if, if the 77% show up, if the 70% show up, Joe Biden walks away with the 20, 20 presidential election hands down.
And the reason this age group does hold a little bit more progressive ideals. Um, even though Biden is not necessarily the most progressive guy in the world, the reason they do is because this age group has been through a very unique life experience at their age is already, still very young, fewer opportunities for jobs because the older generation is unable to retire, thus opening up positions that would otherwise go to young college graduates so they could start their lives. Uh, they don't have that opportunity. Housing prices across the country have absolutely exploded. Uh, putting the dream of home ownership far out of reach for many of these people. Um, they've been through two massive economic crashes in their lifetime and just the last decade actually, uh, they've grown up with mass shooter drills for their, for their schools. Um, some of them have been through mass shooting.
Some of them have actually been through multiple mass shootings. So I'd say that's fairly unique. And these life experience, in addition to, by the way, uh, for a lot of this age group, the United States has been involved in unwinnable on identifiably, uh, unidentifiable Wars in the middle East. If I on identifiable, I mean, Wars that have no clearly defined goal or in game, we're just over there killing people and getting our people killed because, you know, nobody can really tell you why it's just just thing that's happening. So yeah, this age groups, a little bit jaded, little Illinois, they've lived with climate change their entire life, the actual effects of it, the wildfires, the massive storms, the floods, the droughts, all of it.
And they want things to change, but things cannot change for this generation if they don't show up. And that's the catch, that's the caveat. They don't. We see polls all the time, every election year, Oh, the young voters want this. The young voters want that. Great, fantastic. And then the election results come in, the demographic results come in and, and, and, and we cause I'm a part of the millennial group and younger, we didn't show up. Personally. I do vote in every election I've ever been eligible for, but as a whole, they don't, that has to change. It's great that you have these ideals. It's great that you're active. It's great that you're knowledgeable, but if you're not going to do anything with that knowledge, if you're not going to do anything with that passion that you have, then there's no point in even having it.
You have to go out there and vote. And if you still have time in your state, look up what the requirements are, do vote by mail. If you can go do absentee voting, do early voting, do whatever it is you have to do to make sure that you cast that ballot. Your in control. Don't let these people who already have a foot in the grave, tell you what the country is going to be like for the next four years. They won't even be here by the time that administration ends. You most likely will. And you'll increase your chances of still being around. If you actually get out there and vote and get the fascists out of the white house, but you have to show up. That's the part, that's the part that always gets this age group. They are hugely knowledgeable. They are very politically active, but when it comes to doing the one thing to actually change the leadership in this country, they always fall flat. You say 77% of you are going to show up in November. I want to see that 77%. I want that 77% to show up and change the direction of this country, please. There is too much at stake. Don't let us down again.
