The Ten Essentials | Ten Essential Systems | The Mountaineers

For this video, I discuss the Ten Essentials and the Ten Essential Systems. First developed by The Mountaineers in the 1930s, the Ten Essentials are known throughout the outdoor community as the minimum equipment that any individual should have with them when venturing into the backcountry. The Ten Essentials and Ten Essential Systems can be found in The Mountaineers Freedom of the Hills – which is world-renown and the foundation authority on climbing and the outdoors.

I share some of the equipment that I use to put together my own Ten Essential Systems. I also share how I adapt these systems based on the time of year, the planned activity, and the destination of my trip.
