so the government has paid close to 300 billion dollars to over 150 million people in about 30 days... so i'd like to give credit where credit is due.. that's pretty impressive and faster than any other stimulus checks in the past... but there are still many people who didn't get their money yet and they need it NOW... so let's start with those on SSI and VA benefits because I get asked that question in the comments the most.... I'm on SSI and still didnt get my payment.... Your payment is not delayed... you technically were not supposed to get it yet... according to the IRS... which I know has changed in the last week... SSI and VA benefits recipients should receive their payments by MID MAY.... last week it was early may... but now the IRS website says mid may... it's frustrating... its annoying... its dragging... I know and I'm sorry and I wish it was different... and there isnt even a specific date... like is it the 15th of may or what... if you want a date to look forward to here's my best educated guess.. just based on trends so far... again this is my best guess.... the IRS asked SSI and VA people with qualifying dependents to go to the non-filer webpage and gave them a deadline of may 5th by noon... may 5th is a tuesday.... my guess based on the trend is that the IRS usually gathers information weekly on wednesdays and also start making deposits to banks on wednesdays.... we know that from the previous famous pay dates that many people saw... we saw april 29th and more recently may 6th as pay dates for many people... some times the payments show up the following friday... so here's a date but dont hold me to it... the mid may they're talking about might very well be wednesday may13th... so they had everyone enter their information on a tuesday... they process that information on wednesday... then send out the deposits by the following wednesday and possibly going to friday the 15th.... that's my best guess.... And also to answer a couple of related questions related to that... the people who had to go to the non filers webpage are only those who had to add their qualifying children so they can get the $500 per child... and if you are one of those people and entered your information there are two things you have to know.... first of all... if you normally get your benefits on a direct express card and use the non filer tool to add your children information you WILL NOT get your stimulus money on your direct express card... you will get it to the bank account you entered information for on the webpage... and if you left that information blank then you will get a paper check... ALSO.. just a heads up... I know this sucks but it seems like a lot of people who went to the non filer webpage to add their children... STILL didnt get the additional $500 per child and will most likely have to file taxes next year to get that money... that's according to the IRS right now but hopefully they fix that....
