In a first, suspicion of community transmission has risen in Assam after 4 Covid cases were detected from different areas of Bongaigaon today. The four new cases took Assam's COVID-19 tally to 41.
What has raised concern is the fact that none of the 4 people who have tested positive had any contact with a Covid positive patient, neither were they under quarantine. Hence there is no contact history available.
Briefing media persons, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the individuals were suffering from light fever when their samples were sent for tests and subsequently found positive.
