The new Presidential Task force to open the country is called The Great American Revival Initiative. It will include leaders from many industries and the President wants to make sure to include trucking in that force. The problem is that he is including the American Trucking Association. This group, the ATA, is the one who's members repeatedly get taken to court for not paying their drivers correctly. Many ATA member companies have policies where truck drivers sit for hours or even days, AT WORK, without being paid anything. Walmart Transportation has been in court, and lost, for just this reason. Plus, with all the stupid policies at Walmart who would drive there anyway? These other companies are also large carriers. Large carriers are only 4% of the trucking industry. Why didn't the President invite OOIDA to this? Why not an organization that mostly represents the regular working driver? The ATA doesn't represent me or most of the trucking industry. Their member companies are the companies people start at but do not retire from. In no way does the ATA represent trucking in the United States. Subscribe to Trucking Answers!
