Koh Tao Rubbish Run

Koh Tao Rubbish Run The East side of Koh Tao, with its more remote bays, suffers from waste flushed onto the shore by ocean currents and tides most of the year. Yes, it comes all from the ocean. Our ocean!
The East side of Koh Tao is less populated and doesn't have a proper road access like the rest of the island, which makes cleaning the beaches more complicated.
Franzi, Oli and other awesome volunteers spent many days walking across the island and through jungle to pick up various kinds of waste from the secluded beaches. Aow Mao and Liam Thien bays don’t have any road access at all, so we decided to take out the Koh Tao Divers boat for a day trip to drive around the island and collect all the bin bags of these beaches using two boats. A small boat to reach the beaches and take the rubbish to the bigger boat mooring up. Actually even the big boat was pretty filled with loads of bags. We hope we can animate others to help collecting rubbish too. We owe this to our nature, since humans are the ones polluting it so badly.
Here is a little video of the day to remind everyone that they can be the change they want to see in the world.
