Bill tabled to allow special arrangements if General Election is held during COVID-19 outbreak

Bill tabled to allow special arrangements if General Election is held during COVID-19 outbreak Voters who have to stay in designated COVID-19 facilities may still be able to cast their ballots if the General Election is held during the pandemic. This was one of the measures introduced under a bill in Parliament to allow the Elections Department (ELD) to put in place temporary arrangements to protect voters and candidates. The next GE must be held by April 2021. The ELD stressed that the bill is "part of contingency planning", and is not related to the timing of the GE.
